Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to violence that is targeted at someone based on their gender. This violence can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, sex, identity, expression, national origin, disability, race, or class. Everyone who lives in a gender-based violent society is impacted by it, either directly or indirectly, because they are forced to live with the fallout. GBV is a global pandemic that cuts across boundaries of economic status, religion, ethnicity, culture, nationality.

This knowledge product (IEC) will present different cases of GBV, their definition according to law and punishments available to the offenders.
