APEIRON : An equal world for a better future

Alleviate Poverty Empowering Women in Rural Areas of Nepal (APEIRON) (महिला सशक्तीकरणद्वारा ग्रामीण नेपालको गरिबी निवारण) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit social organization established in the spirit of pure service. The organization was registered with the District Administration office of Kathmandu (Regd. no: 223) in September 2013 (according to the Organization Registration Act, 2034) and is also affiliated with Social Welfare Council (Regd. no: 38100).

Alleviate Poverty Empowering Women in Rural Areas of Nepal (APEIRON) established in 2004 with a vision- "People of all genders can pursue any opportunities they choose and are not restrained by gender related barriers to rights, resources and services". APEIRON works with vulnerable women and children to overcome the barriers in their life, including gender based violence, restricted access to and control over resources, low literacy, and other social, economic and legal challenges. It works in Five areas: i) GBV prevention and response ii) Vulnerable women and socio-economic empowerment iii) OVC protection and education iv) Women, men, girls and boys reproductive health rights v) Institutional partnership and collaboration. APEIRON works through holistic programming for GBV prevention and gender norms transformation focusing on underlying causes of gender inequality and improving the condition and status of Nepali women.

Since 2007, APEIRON is operating a fully equipped safe home CASA Nepal in its own building in Kathmandu and in Sindhuli in a rented building for GBV survivors and their children. In past it has already operated eight shelters in east and west part of Nepal. CASA Nepal provides psychosocial and legal support, health and child care, empowerment, and skills training literacy classes, income generating skills, awareness about their legal rights, recreation such as dancing and yoga. APEIRON is also operating children home with capacity of 25 children at a time since 2017 to provide alternative care and contributing protection and development of most needy and At-Risk children of Nepal.

Besides operating safe home and children home; APEIRON is supporting children education program providing teacher support, sponsorship and skill development program and engaging children in sports. Simultaneously it is delivering gender awareness program, SRHR and Parenting programs. APEIRON has also worked actively during earth quake and Covid pandemic and served the needy community.

APEIRON’s main objective is “Individuals change behavior patterns and question harmful traditional practices to create more gender equal communities”.

Through literacy, micro-enterprise, and vocational and life skills trainings, Apeiron fights against prejudice, violence, and inequality so that women can develop the skills to support themselves and their families. Women's empowerment is Apeiron’s ultimate goal.
